MODALITIES OF THERAPY

  • CBT

Distortions in our thinking can lead to behavioral, emotional and interpersonal difficulties. In CBT, individuals learn and practice techniques to identify and augment these patterns in order to enhance mood and optimize functioning.

  • Interpersonal

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) focuses on alleviating distressing symptoms by enhancing the quality of an individual’s interpersonal functioning. IPT regards symptoms as a response to challenges in everyday relationships with others.

  • DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an empirically supported treatment modality, and has been validated to treat a range of clinical conditions including PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders, as well as impulse-control and personality disorders.

SPECIFIC TRAININGS

Contextual Trauma Therapy

The Contextual Trauma Theory (CTT) model views trauma as a complex experience shaped by an individual's personal history, relationships, cultural background, and environment. It emphasizes how these contexts influence how trauma is experienced, integrated, and healed.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, collaborative counseling approach designed to help individuals overcome ambivalence and find their own motivation for change. It emphasizes empathy, active listening, and the exploration of a person's values and goals.

Psychological Assessment

Trained in the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2), the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI-IV), the Rorshach Inkblot Test, the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales.

iNCLUSIVITY

I am passionate about supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring my practice is inclusive, empathetic, and respectful. I create a culturally sensitive space where clients feel valued and empowered. I’ve led over 100 psychoeducational workshops for individuals in early recovery and their families and regularly provide commentary on mental health topics for podcasts and radio shows.
